What this is

A Better Today sleep plan is educational information about sleep habits, sleep timing and routine, put together from published research and from the answers you give us.

What it is not

It is not medical advice. It is not a diagnosis. It is not treatment. Better Today is not a medical practice, a psychology practice or a pharmacy, and the people behind it are not registered health professionals. Nothing in your plan replaces seeing a doctor.

About medication

Your plan will never tell you to start, stop, change or reduce any medication, whether it came from a doctor or off a shelf. Those decisions belong with the person who prescribed or dispensed it.

Where your plan mentions a supplement, it is general information, framed as optional, and it points you to a pharmacist. Anything you take, including things sold without a prescription, can interact with other things you take. Ask the pharmacist, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or on chronic medication.

Please see a doctor if

Your sleeplessness has lasted more than four weeks. You snore loudly, gasp, or stop breathing during sleep. You fall asleep during the day without meaning to, particularly while driving. You feel persistently low, hopeless, or unsafe. You are pregnant or breastfeeding and considering any supplement. You are on chronic medication, particularly antidepressants, sleep medication or blood pressure medication. Or your sleep changed suddenly and you do not know why.

In an emergency

If you are in crisis, phone SADAG's suicide crisis helpline on 0800 567 567, free, 24 hours. In any emergency phone 112 from a mobile, or 10111 for police and 10177 for an ambulance.

For adults

Better Today sells to adults aged 18 and over. The plans are written for adults and are not suitable for children.

Your responsibility

You decide what to do with the information in your plan. It is written to be safe and honest, but it cannot see you, examine you or know what your doctor knows. If something in it does not fit your situation, do not do it, and ask someone who can see you.
